We began introducing our son to the potty at 13 months. Once he mastered walking and the skill of "mounting" the potty, we took the daytime diapers off for good, and by 18 months he was potty trained (the average age for completing potty training back in the 1950s, before the advent of disposable diapers). Generally, time spent in the bathroom has been pleasant, especially since he loves books and will sit there gladly if someone is reading to him. Only, lately, he's begun to resist putting on his undies and will ask for "more potty" if he's not done with story time yet. It's tempting to argue with him, especially on busy days, but how often have I, or his dad, sat on the throne longer than necessary just to finish a good read?
