What is Elimination Communication?

Elimination Communication, as Lauren Levy from theBUMP writes, is listening to your child's cues when they need to go number one or two. Once your child signifies they need to go, you take your child to the bathroom. With this approach, the parents need to be aware and support their children to the bathroom. In the first year until the child can walk, the child is dependent on the parent to bring them to the bathroom. The child is not ready to be independent on the toilet just yet. This communication eliminates the use of diapers, as the child uses the toilet from the beginning. This technique focuses on the child communicating when they need to go.
